Terms and Conditions

Program Participation and Financial Structure 

1.1. The program is offered free of charge, contingent upon active participation.

1.2. As a resident, you are required to engage in 15 hours of programming per week. This programming may include, but is not limited to: • Group therapy sessions • Life skills workshops • Recovery meetings • Community service • Job training and education

1.3. Program Philosophy and Core Requirements a. This program is founded on the principle that true recovery requires: • A fundamental shift in consciousness • Active engagement in physical and spiritual practices • Commitment to personal transformation • Participation in community development

b. Daily programming includes: • Morning movement and meditation practices • Physical wellness activities • Community dialogue and process groups • Personal development work

c. Residents must demonstrate: • Openness to new approaches and perspectives • Willingness to examine personal narratives • Active participation in physical practices • Engagement in community dialogue • Commitment to working through challenges

1.4. Participation includes a mandatory 3 hours of IOP three times per week.

1.5. Failure to meet the participation requirements may result in the following consequences: • First instance: Verbal warning • Second instance: Written warning • Third instance: Review of residency status, potentially leading to termination from the program

Compliance with Application Requirements 

2.1. You agree to submit to all the requirements outlined in the Enrollment Application, including but not limited to: • Participation in a minimum of 12 hours of work trade / chores per month. • Compliance with drug testing policies. • Adherence to community rules and guidelines. • Active participation in recovery programs and support services.

2.2. Daily Responsibilities: • You agree to make your bed every morning before the morning practice. • You commit to keeping your bedroom clean and clear of clutter at all times. • You will participate in daily chores as assigned, which may include but are not limited to: - Unloading the dishwasher - Cleaning the kitchen - Picking up clothes and personal items in common areas

2.3. Work Trade and Chores: • You agree to participate in vacuuming and mopping common areas twice a week. • You commit to participating in a thorough cleaning session every Sunday morning at 9am, which may involve: - Kitchen cleanup and sweeping - Picking up and vacuuming downstairs areas - Mopping kitchen and dining areas - Cleaning bathrooms - Removing dog waste from designated areas - Taking out garbage and recycling - Sweeping the patio - Cleaning the yoga space

Financial Responsibilities 

3.1. While the program itself is free, you are responsible for personal expenses such as food, toiletries and optional activities not provided by the program.

3.2. If you require financial assistance for program-related expenses, you may submit a request to the program coordinator. These requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Acknowledgment of Non-Tenancy 

4.1. You understand that residency at TribaLights Programs does not create a landlord-tenant relationship under any state law.

4.2. Your residency is contingent upon compliance with community rules and your commitment to recovery.

Residency Status and Removal Process 

5.1. Nature of Residency: You acknowledge that your residency in TribaLights Programs is not a typical landlord-tenant relationship. Rather, it is a conditional residency in a recovery support program.

5.2. Waiver of Tenant Rights: By signing this agreement, you explicitly waive any tenant rights that might otherwise apply under local or state law, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

5.3. Grounds for Removal: You may be removed from the program for violating any of the terms outlined in this agreement.

5.4. Removal Process: If it is determined that you have violated the terms of this agreement, the following process will be initiated: • You will be given written notice of the violation and the intent to remove you from the program. • Depending on the severity of the violation, you may be given an opportunity to remedy the situation within a specified timeframe. • If the violation is not remedied or is of a nature that warrants immediate removal, you will be required to leave the premises within 24 hours of receiving final notice. • If you fail to leave voluntarily, TribaLights Programs reserves the right to take appropriate legal action to remove you from the property.

5.5. Personal Property: Upon removal, you will have 48 hours to collect all personal belongings. Any items left behind after this period will be considered abandoned and disposed of according to program policies.

5.6. Legal Action: You understand that if you refuse to leave the premises after being removed from the program, TribaLights Programs may initiate legal proceedings to regain possession of the property. You agree to be responsible for any legal fees incurred by TribaLights Programs in this process.

Behavior and Conduct 

6.1. You agree to maintain a respectful and supportive environment for all residents.

6.2. Conflicts will be handled through peaceful and constructive resolution methods.

6.3. You will not engage in any illegal activities or conduct that disrupts the peace and order of the community.

6.4. You agree to respect the personal living spaces of other residents.

6.5. Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. During these hours, noise should be kept to a minimum to respect others' rest and recovery.

6.6. Substance Use Policy: • The use of alcohol or illicit drugs on the premises is strictly prohibited. • Violation of this policy may result in immediate termination from the program. • Random drug testing may be conducted to ensure compliance with this policy.

6.7. Smoking Policy: • Smoking is only permitted at least 50 yards away from the house. • Proper disposal of cigarette butts is required.

6.8. Curfew: • All residents must be in the house by 10:00 PM unless prior arrangements have been made with staff. • Repeated violation of curfew may result in disciplinary action.

Health and Safety 

7.1. You will disclose any physical or mental health conditions that may affect your participation in the program or require special accommodations.

7.2. You agree to comply with any health and safety guidelines set forth by TribaLights Programs.

7.3. You will report any health or safety concerns to the community staff immediately.

7.4. You agree to follow all emergency procedures as posted and to familiarize yourself with emergency exits and equipment.

7.5. Safety and Security: • You agree to sign in and out of the facility when leaving and returning. • In case of fire, follow the evacuation procedures posted throughout the house. • For medical emergencies, contact staff immediately or call 911 if the situation is life-threatening.

7.6. Relapse Prevention and Response: • You agree to actively participate in relapse prevention activities as part of the program. • If you experience a relapse, you must inform staff immediately. • The program will assess each relapse situation individually to determine the appropriate course of action, which may include additional support or, in severe cases, termination from the program.

Support and Community Contribution 

8.1. You commit to contributing positively to the community and supporting your fellow residents in their recovery journeys.

8.2. You will actively participate in community meetings, support groups, and other activities designed to foster a supportive and sober living environment.

8.3. You agree to participate in the community's sustainability efforts, including recycling and energy conservation.

8.4. Community Meetings and Group Participation: • You agree to attend all mandatory community meetings and group sessions as scheduled. • Active participation in these meetings is expected and is crucial for your recovery and the community's wellbeing.

Privacy and Confidentiality 

9.1. You agree to maintain the confidentiality of other residents. This includes not discussing their personal information or recovery journey with anyone outside the program.

9.2. Breach of confidentiality may result in immediate termination from the program.

9.3. Room Inspections: • Random inspections may be conducted to ensure compliance with program policies and maintain a safe environment. • Staff will not read personal journals during inspections. Journals may only be checked for physical items (by shaking) and will not be read unless there is a direct statement indicating harm to self or others. • Inspections will be conducted with respect for privacy and personal property. • Any concerns about inspections will be addressed in community meetings.

Visitor Policy 

10.1. To maintain the safety, privacy, and recovery-focused environment of our community, visitors are not allowed on the premises of TribaLights Programs.

10.2. This no-visitor policy applies to all areas of the property, including common areas and individual living spaces.

10.3. In case of emergency situations or exceptional circumstances where a visit might be necessary, residents must obtain prior written approval from the program director.

10.4. Any unauthorized visitors will be asked to leave immediately, and the resident involved may face disciplinary action as per the program's policies.

Technology and Internet Usage 

11.1. Internet access is provided for residents' use. You agree to use the internet responsibly and not to access inappropriate or illegal content.

11.2. Use of personal electronic devices is restricted during program activities.

Personal Growth and Goal Setting 

12.1. Within the first week of residency, you will work with a staff member to set personal recovery and life goals.

12.2. You agree to participate in bi-weekly check-ins to review progress on these goals and adjust them as necessary.

12.3. You are encouraged to participate in skill-building and educational opportunities offered by the program or approved outside sources.

12.4. Transformation Goals a. You commit to developing and working toward: • Personal transformation objectives • Physical wellness goals • Community contribution plans • Consciousness development practices

b. Regular progress reviews will assess: • Engagement in program practices • Community participation • Personal growth development • Integration of program principles

Termination of Residency 

13.1. If you choose to leave the program voluntarily, you are required to give at least 72 hours notice to staff.

13.2. Upon departure, you must remove all personal belongings and return any items belonging to TribaLights Programs.

13.3. TribaLights Programs will provide you with information on local resources and transitional housing options upon your departure.

13.4. Program Completion: • The program duration is 4 months. • Successful completion is determined by full participation in all program components and adherence to all rules and policies. • Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate and access to aftercare resources.

Conflict Resolution Process 

14.1. If a conflict arises with another resident, attempt to resolve it directly and respectfully.

14.2. If unable to resolve, seek mediation from a staff member.

14.3. For unresolved conflicts, a formal meeting will be scheduled with involved parties and program leadership.

14.4. All major decisions regarding conflicts or potential removal will be made as a community, not by a single individual.

Employment/Education Requirements 

15.1. You are encouraged to seek employment or pursue education during your stay.

15.2. Any employment or educational commitments should not interfere with program participation.

15.3. Staff can provide resources and support for job searching or educational pursuits.

Liability Waiver and Release 

16.1. You acknowledge and agree that participation in the TribaLights Programs involves activities that may present risks, including but not limited to physical, emotional, or mental injury. By participating in the program and residing at the TribaLights Community House, you voluntarily assume full responsibility for any risk of injury or harm.

16.2. You understand that TribaLights Programs does not provide liability insurance coverage for residents. As a condition of your residency, you agree to release, waive, and discharge TribaLights Programs, its owners, employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all liability for personal injury, property damage, or any other claims arising from your participation in the program or residency at the Community House.

16.3. This waiver extends to any injuries or damages that occur while you are on the premises, participating in program activities, or using any facilities or equipment provided by TribaLights Programs.

16.4. You acknowledge that this waiver is a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law. If any part of this waiver is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Subsidized Rent Policy 

17.1. Subsidized Rent: Residents who complete a minimum of 25 hours of community house program per week are eligible for a subsidized rent rate of $38 per week.

17.2. Minimum Participation Requirement: All residents are expected to participate in at least 25 hours of community house program activities each week to maintain their eligibility for subsidized rent.

17.3. Missed Hours: a. If a resident is unable to complete the minimum 25 hours in a given week, they must communicate this to program staff as soon as possible. b. Staff will work with the resident on a case-by-case basis to determine a fair exchange for the missed hours. This may include: - Additional hours in subsequent weeks - Alternative service projects - Other forms of contribution to the community as agreed upon by staff and the resident

17.4. Rent Adjustment: a. If a fair exchange for missed hours is agreed upon and completed, the resident's rent will remain at the subsidized rate of $38 per week. b. If a resident consistently misses hours without making up the time or contributing in agreed-upon ways, their eligibility for subsidized rent may be reviewed.

17.5. Communication and Transparency: a. Residents are responsible for accurately reporting their program hours to staff. b. Any concerns about meeting the hour requirement should be discussed with staff proactively.

17.6. Extenuating Circumstances: In cases of illness, emergency, or other significant life events, residents should communicate with program staff immediately to discuss accommodations.

17.7. Regular Review: This policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure it meets the needs of both residents and the program. Residents will be notified of any changes with adequate notice.

Fraternization Policy 

18.1. Purpose: This policy aims to maintain a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused environment for all residents while acknowledging the potential for personal relationships to develop.

18.2. Definition: Fraternization, in this context, refers to romantic or sexual relationships between residents of TribaLights Programs.

18.3. General Guidelines: a. Residents are strongly discouraged from engaging in romantic or sexual relationships with other residents during their time in the program. b. If feelings develop between residents, they are encouraged to discuss this with program staff for guidance.

18.4. Prohibited Behaviors: a. Sexual activity of any kind is not permitted on TribaLights premises. b. Public displays of affection that may make others uncomfortable are not allowed. c. Residents may not enter the private living spaces of residents of the opposite sex.

18.5. Existing Relationships: a. Residents who enter the program with an existing relationship must disclose this to staff. b. Such cases will be evaluated individually to ensure they do not interfere with the recovery process.

18.6. Consequences: a. Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination from the program. b. If a relationship is deemed to be interfering with the recovery process of either individual or the community at large, staff may require one or both parties to leave the program.

18.7. Reporting: a. Residents who feel uncomfortable due to others' relationship behaviors are encouraged to report their concerns to staff. b. All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated promptly.

18.8. Staff-Resident Relationships: a. Romantic or sexual relationships between staff and residents are strictly prohibited. b. Any staff member engaging in such a relationship will face immediate termination.

18.9. Support: a. Staff will provide support and guidance to residents struggling with relationship issues. b. Educational sessions on healthy relationships in recovery may be offered as part of the program.

18.10. Review: This policy will be reviewed regularly and may be updated based on the needs of the community and the effectiveness of the policy in maintaining a recovery-focused environment.

Amendments to Agreement 

19.1. This agreement may be amended by TribaLights Programs with 30 days notice to residents.

19.2. Residents will have the opportunity to provide feedback on proposed changes during community meetings.

19.3. This agreement will be reviewed and updated annually, with input from residents and staff.

By signing, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by all the terms and conditions outlined in this Community Housing Contract.
