What Is CCSS in New Mexico?
Adapted from the TribaLights guide by Phoenix Germano.
Skills for everyday life
CCSS stands for Comprehensive Community Support Services. It focuses on helping eligible people apply recovery and behavioral health skills in everyday life, supporting independence, stability, community connection, and recovery.
What can a Community Support Worker help with?
- Daily living and healthy routines
- Employment and education goals
- Housing stability and community resources
- Coping skills and recovery planning
- Communication and healthy relationships
- Keeping appointments and navigating services
How does it relate to therapy?
CCSS is different from psychotherapy. Therapy is clinical treatment provided by a licensed professional; CCSS helps people build skills and functioning in the community. They can work together—for example, practicing emotional regulation skills learned in therapy.
Eligibility and the appropriate services are determined through assessment and individualized planning. Ask your provider and health plan about the requirements that apply to you.
